I know a lot of people think Valentine’s Day is just a day to spend money, but it really isn’t. You definitely can spend a lot of money on this day, but in my opinion, it’s simply a day to look forward to—one that makes life feel a little more magical. I’ve celebrated GALentine’s Day many times with my girlfriends, and it’s always been an absolute blast!
Here are 14 Fun Valentine’s Day Date Ideas:
Dinner
I had to start with the most basic date idea! Usually, the nice restaurant’s would already be fully booked by now for Valentine’s Day but given all the restrictions, some countries won’t even be able to go out for dinner. This is the perfect opportunity to make something delicious at home!
Paint night
I feel like I advocate paint night for basically every date post but I really do think it’s an awesome way to bond and get creative! I’ve seen different couples put a theme to it and have a really fun time.
Ice Skating
Oh, my husband and I use to go ice skating all the time! Some rinks are open so if you can, it’s a fantastic date! There’s a lot of outdoor rinks all over Canada which is nice. *Note to self: Get your butt ice skating*
Picnic
My personal fav! Last year, I did an indoor picnic for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. It was such a cute set up and we were able to snap some photos too!
Wine Tasting
My husband doesn’t really drink wine so don’t think this would be for us but would be so fun if you just picked 3-5 random wines and tasted them all and made it a fun activity at home.
Dancing/Karaoke
Create your own club! I’m not kidding. Dancing/karaoke is such a nice release and is so fun. I often start singing then end up rapping towards the end of the night haha.
Movie Marathon
This is your reminder to rewatched the entire Harry Potter series!!
Bonfire
Not everyone can do this but if you’ve got the chance, a beautiful bonfire would be lovely.
Museum
I love checking out a museum! They are always so interesting and informative. Also, lots of establishments are by donation which is fab!
Coffee shop & a book
Sometimes, the best date is the quiet ones and that’s okay. If you both love reading, this would be perfect!
Comedy Show
Not really possible at this time to attend one live but there’s tons of comedy specials on Netflix! My favourite is Gabriel Iglesias -“I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry”.
Spa Day
Setting up a spa day at home is easy especially if you’ve already got some spa products. A nice cheap alternative as well is creating you own products!
Bike Ride
Perfect if you’ve got bikes at home! You can take a drive nearby OR just bike around the neighbourhood for some fresh air!
Hotel/AirBnb Stay
Travel within your city/town is still allowed where I am! It’s always nice to support different businesses if you can and you know they are keeping their accommodations up to sanitary standards.
Cooking Class
There are so many online experiences that you can take! AirBnb has really fab ones listed.
Hike
It’s still chilly outside but getting out and being in nature is so refreshing. Going for a long walk or a nice hike is perfect and has no distractions for you and your partner.
Cocktail Night
Have you seen this trend on Tiktok? It’s usually a group of friends who does this but each person makes a cocktail of choice and presents it! I love this idea and think it’s super fun!
Long Drive
If you’ve got a vehicle, going for a long drive is perfect. I love going for drives in the summer and coming long as the sunsets.
Hopefully, this gave you ideas on what to do for Valentine’s Day! Again, if you don’t really celebrate, think of it as a date night that happens to be on February 14th. We need all the things we can possibly look forward to to still keep the magic in our lives. It was a hard last year and 2021 is still the same, of course. So, remember to breathe, reconnect when you can and do what you can with what you have!
