Lemon Chia Water Recipe: A Refreshing Fiber-Rich Drink

Boost your fiber intake with this nutritious, refreshing, and hydrating drink! Lemon Glow Chia Water is made with just three simple ingredients: fresh lemon juice, chia seeds, and ice-cold water. The combination of tangy lemon and nutrient-dense chia seeds creates a simple yet satisfying beverage that is both functional and delicious.

Adding chia seeds to water has been part of my travel routine for years. Traveling often disrupts my digestive system, but starting this chia drink a day before a trip helps keep everything running smoothly. It's gentle, safe, and genuinely effective. I've shared this simple trick with friends and family, including my mom, and they all agree that it works wonders.

Chia seeds are a nutritional powerhouse packed with fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, and iron. They are also a complete source of plant-based protein, making them a valuable addition to a healthy diet. At home, I add two tablespoons of chia seeds to my morning smoothies every day. However, when I travel, making smoothies or properly meal prepping isn't always possible, so I need another way to maintain my daily fiber intake.

That's where this chia seed water recipe—also known as chia fresca—comes in. Recently popularized on TikTok, chia water has become a favorite wellness drink for many people. It's simple, quick, and incredibly easy to prepare, especially while traveling. All you need is fresh lemon juice, chia seeds, and ice-cold water.

Chia seeds are rich in insoluble fiber, which helps move food through the digestive tract and supports regular bowel movements. While some TikTok users promote this "internal shower drink" as a weight-loss solution, it's important to remember that no single drink can replace a balanced, nutrient-rich diet. A healthy lifestyle should always include a variety of fiber-rich foods, adequate hydration, and regular physical activity.

What makes chia water so appealing to me is not the trend itself, but the fact that I've been relying on it as a travel hack for years. It's a simple, natural way to support digestive health and maintain regularity when changes in routine might otherwise cause discomfort.

Beyond its functional benefits, lemon chia seed water is genuinely refreshing and enjoyable to drink. Fresh lemon juice adds a bright, zesty citrus flavor, while the hydrated chia seeds provide a clean, mild taste. Their soft, gel-like texture creates a unique drinking experience that feels both satisfying and soothing. Every sip delivers a refreshing combination of flavor, hydration, and nourishment. Trust me—you'll want to make this healthy drink part of your routine.

Why You'll Love this Lemon Glow Chia Water

  • Easy to make anywhere
  • Refreshing and hydrating - try my electrolyte-packed Nature's Gatorade for another option!
  • Packed with nutrients
  • Helps the digestive system (typically takes effect the next day)
  • Customizable - mix in fun, optional ingredients based on what you're craving!

Ingredients

Lemon, chia seeds and water with a white marble background.

As the name suggests, lemon chia water uses just three simple ingredients:

Ice cold water: Any temperature is fine, but I find it much more refreshing and enjoyable when really cold.

Chia seeds: Whether you choose black or white chia seeds doesn't make a difference from a nutritional standpoint, as the only real difference is their color. Black chia seeds are typically what you'll find in the grocery store.

Fresh lemon juice: I add lemon juice for citrus flavor to make the drink more enjoyable, but it isn't necessary for achieving the functional benefits of chia water. It does add vitamin C though as a bonus!

How to Make Lemon Glow Chia Water

1. Squeeze lemon juice into a glass of ice cold water.

2. Add the chia seeds and immediately whisk vigorously for one minute to avoid clumping.

3. Continue whisking every minute or so for 15 minutes until the chia seeds are soft and plump. Enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • Whisk often, more so early on. For best results, stir frequently during the first 5 minutes when the chia seeds start to congeal. Stirring will prevent clumping of the chia seeds. I use a hand frother when I have access to one but a spoon or whisk works just fine.
  • It's ready when the chia seeds have softened. It is important that the chia seeds fully soften and congeal before drinking. This ensures they are easy to digest and work effectively. Plus, nobody wants hard little seeds in their drink!
  • The measurements are flexible. Don't worry about being exact. About 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of chia seeds is a good starting point. If I'm at a restaurant, I'll bring my own seeds and then ask for a regular glass of water with lemon.

Optional Add-Ins

Fresh lemon juice does the trick, but you can certainly add more ingredients to take this drink to the next level:

  • Coconut water: Add a bit of coconut water as a natural electrolyte to help with dehydration.
  • Mint leaves: Add a fresh, cooling vibe.
  • Turmeric: A pinch gives a golden glow and anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Cucumber slices: Make it a spa-inspired drink.
  • Apple cider vinegar: Add a splash to give it a tangy beneficial twist.
  • Maple syrup: Add a little natural sweetness.
  • Lime juice: Lemon-lime flavor is a classic citrus combo.

Health Benefits of Chia Seeds

Believe it or not, chia seeds are actually part of the mint family. They have been known for over 5,500 years and were one of the most important components of the diet of Mayas and Aztecs (source). According to the National Institutes of Health, chia seeds are rich in fiber which can prevent constipation, essential fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6) and antioxidants that help prevent cell damage. One tablespoon of chia seeds contains roughly 5 grams of fiber (source).

In addition, chia seeds have the ability to decrease the risk of chronic diseases including GI-tract-related diseases, cardiovascular disease and various types of cancer. Fiber, omega-3 fatty acid, protein, polyphenols, phytosterols, vitamins and minerals reduce heart diseases by controlling bad cholesterol, hypertension and platelet aggregation (source).

It has even been found that chia seeds offer protection against some disorders such as diabetes, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease (source).

I hope you enjoy this easy Lemon Glow Chia Water recipe! It is such a convenient and refreshing way to add fiber to your diet to keep things regular. Cheers to glowing, hydrating days!

21 Simple Self-Care Rituals for Women with Busy Schedules

If you’re looking for self-care rituals for women, this post is for you!

As a busy mom and entrepreneur, I know how difficult it can be to find time for regular self-care, but I’ve learned how important it is to listen to my body and recognize when I need to prioritize my physical and emotional well-being. While it’s human nature to put the needs of others before our own, there is only so long we can live in a constant state of overwhelm before our bodies begin to break down, and we forget that an imbalance in our physical and emotional health not only affects how we feel about ourselves, but also impacts the quality of our relationships with family and friends.

For a long time, I believed that practicing regular self-care meant taking up yoga, keeping a daily journal, or scheduling weekly nail appointments, and while I absolutely encourage you to try all of these, the reality is that there are seasons of life when self-care is more about tending to our physical needs rather than our emotional ones.

And that’s 100% okay.

Any form of self-care is valuable because it reminds us that we matter beyond our roles as caregivers, friends, and business powerhouses.

What is Self-Care?

You’ve probably heard the term ‘self-care’ floating around the internet a lot lately, but it’s a concept that not everyone understands.

Simply put, self-care is the practice of taking care of one’s own physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The idea is that, when we take care of all of these aspects of our lives, we reduce emotional issues like stress, anxiety, and depression as well as the physical reactions they create, leaving us with more energy and motivation, and making us better able to handle the challenges life throws at us.

There are many different types of self-care, including physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual care, and self-care rituals for women can be as simple or as complex as you want them to be.

5 Ways to Make Time for Self-Care

While many of us recognize the importance of incorporating self-care rituals for women into our daily and weekly routines, the reality is that most of us don’t follow through. Time is a luxury very few of us have, and the idea of finding an additional 15-30 to invest in ourselves can feel overwhelming. What we fail to realize is that a constant GO! GO! GO! mentality makes it more important than ever for us to find a way to decompress and find balance.

If you’re looking for tips to help you find the time for regular self-care, here are some ideas to help.

1) Start small. Remember that something is better than nothing, start small, and slowly build your self-care routine over time. The more realistic and manageable you keep things, the more likely you will be to maintain them.

2) Schedule it. Planning ahead and scheduling self-care into your calendar can make a huge difference in ensuring you have the time, and it helps keep you accountable too.

3) Manage your energy effectively. Figure out when you are at your most productive each day and use that time to power through your most important tasks. This will ensure you maximize your energy, leaving you more downtime at the end of the day for the things that bring you balance.

4) Learn to say ‘no’. If you’re constantly strapped for time, get into the habit of only committing to the things that contribute to your goals, and don’t spend an ounce of time feeling guilty for prioritizing the things that are important to you – including your physical and emotional well-being!

5) Take a mental health day. If your place of employment offers mental health days, don’t be afraid to use them! Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves and our mental health is to simply take a day off to do…nothing.

21 Self-Care Rituals for Women

1) Practice daily gratitude. Take a few minutes each morning to write down 5 things you’re grateful for. These don’t need to be huge, but you do need to be intentional as you think through and write down the items you’re most thankful for. Your morning cup of coffee, the extra snuggles you enjoyed with your kids, or an upcoming date night with your significant other are all examples of small but meaningful things that can add a huge amount of joy to your life. Keeping a daily gratitude journal is one of my favorite self-care rituals for women as it takes very little time but can make a huge difference in setting a positive tone for the day ahead.

2) Write down 3 things you love about yourself. Mornings tend to be a time when women struggle most with their internal dialogue, which can set a negative tone for the day ahead. If this sounds like you, get into the habit of looking in the mirror while you’re getting ready each morning and identifying 3 things you like about yourself. This will train your brain to focus on your positive qualities and features, which will have a positive impact on how you feel.

3) Put your best foot forward. Another one of my favorite self-care rituals for women is to put time and effort into your appearance. I know a lot of people will criticize me for thinking makeup, hair, and fashion are important, but I consistently find that I feel my best when I put my best foot forward. Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier and take the time to swipe on some mascara and blush, style your hair, and select an outfit that makes you feel good.

4) Make nutrition a priority. Committing to a clean diet is another way to indulge in self-care. It takes time and energy to create menu plans, stock your fridge and pantry with healthy foods, and prep and cook healthy meals, but fuelling your body with the right foods can have so many positive benefits on your physical and emotional well-being.

5) Move your body. A list of self-care rituals for women wouldn’t be complete without exercise, but before you roll your eyes, hear me out. We all know that engaging in 30 minutes of physical activity several times a week is ideal for our physical and emotional health, but when life gets busy, this is one of the first self-care activities we drop. If you can’t find the time to make it to the gym, find other ways to get your body up and moving. Chase your kids around the backyard after school, go for a walk around the neighborhood after dinner, or do some stretching or body weight exercises once everyone is tucked into bed for the night.

6) Listen to a podcast. There are so many great, inspirational podcasts you can stream to help you indulge in some self-care while simultaneously getting caught up on household tasks, like laundry, cooking, doing the dishes, or organizing closets and cupboards. I’m a huge fan of the RISE and Goal Digger podcasts!

7) Get outside. If you’re looking for self-care rituals for women, finding ways to get outside is another great option to consider. Whether it’s going for a run first thing in the morning, spending time in the backyard with your family, or enjoying a cup of tea on your front porch before bed, there are heaps of ways you can enjoy the great outdoors, and the fresh air will do wonders for your soul.

8) Make time for friends. While it can be difficult to find the time to physically get together with friends as our schedules become busier and more demanding, there are other ways you can connect. Setup a standing date to chat via FaceTime each week, organize a nightly ritual where you text each other one positive thing that happened to you that day, or do what my university BFF and I do: send each other funny memes to add a bit of sunshine and sarcasm into your days!

9) Take up a hobby. Whether it’s blogging, photography, or a home renovation project, find something you’re passionate about and make time for it! It will do wonders for your soul.

10) Cook or bake. While these items aren’t high on the list of self-care rituals for women that I enjoy, I have many friends who find cooking and baking to be extremely therapeutic. If this sounds like you, find time to test new recipes wherever possible.

11) Schedule time to play catch-up. The last few weeks have been particularly busy in our household, and last night I was really feeling the weight of it all. I usually spent 30-40 minutes lifting weights after dinner to clear my head, but I decided to use that time to get caught up on all of the household stuff that has been weighing me down instead, and it made a HUGE difference. I woke up feeling lighter and more motivated this morning, and think I may make it a weekly habit!

12) Relax in the tub. When I asked some of my mom friends what their favorite self-care rituals for women are, most of them said they enjoy pouring themselves a glass of wine, lighting some candles, and soaking in a hot tub after a difficult day. Give it a try!

13) Create a nightly spa routine. If you’re on the hunt for self-care rituals for women you can do when the kids are in bed for the night and that don’t take up a ton of time, there are tons of things you can try! Pain your nails, shape your eyebrows, repair damaged locks with a hydrating hair mask, or try out a sheet mask.

14) Unplug. Sometimes the best thing you can do after a long day is to unplug from your electronics and live in the moment.

15) Do something spontaneous. Book a day off to spend with someone you love – or to enjoy your own company – and do something totally indulgent. Get your hair done, enjoy lunch at your favorite restaurant, go to a movie…the possibilities are endless!

16) Avoid toxic people. Do you have people in your life who have a way of seeing the negative in absolutely everything? It can be so emotionally draining – not to mention depressing – to interact with people like this. I believe our lives are a direct result of the choices we make and the people we surround ourselves with, and if you’re looking for self-care rituals for women, avoiding toxic people wherever possible is a great (and easy) way to better your emotional well-being.

17) Take a nap. Another one of my favorite self-care rituals for women is to indulge in a mid-afternoon nap. Very few of us get the recommended 8 hours of shut-eye each night, and while you may feel guilty putting aside household chores in favor of sleep, sometimes that’s exactly what your soul needs.

18) Keep learning. Whether it’s signing up for a seminar or course on a particular topic of interest to you, or choosing to go back to school, never, ever stop learning! You’re not too old, and it’s never too late to learn something new.

19) Journal. For those who enjoy writing, journaling is another one of my favorite self-care rituals for women. Writing in a journal provides a great outlet, helps promote a sense of calm, provides perspective, and can help identify triggers and patterns as well as provide solutions. We’ve written a whole post about journaling for emotional well-being, including our favorite guided journals and journal prompts, which you can read HERE.

20) Prioritize sleep. As I mentioned earlier, very few of us get the recommended 8 hours of sleep each night, which can cause a whole slew of problems. Committing to an extra 30 minutes of sleep each night can do wonders for your physical and emotional health!

21) Meal prep. I realize that chopping vegetables and creating freezer meals isn’t the most exciting form of self-care, but prioritizing your health is extremely important. If clean eating and weight loss are important to you, scheduling time to plan and prep your meals is a great way to put yourself and your needs first. Listen to a podcast or some music to make it more enjoyable!

I hope these self-care rituals for women inspire you to find something – anything! – you can do on the daily to make yourself feel like a priority. Remember to start small, to schedule self-care into your calendar to keep yourself accountable, and to never apologize for putting your physical and emotional needs first.

You Probably Are Aware Of The Benefits Of Himalayan Salt, But I Bet You Didn't Know This...

We all love the little pink salt crystals that make food taste just oh so good. But did you know Himalayan salt can also be used to make lamps? In fact, Himalayan salt lamps are incredibly good for you.

According to WellnessMama, Himalayan salt lamps are effective in cleaning indoor air, reducing allergies, and improving the general mood. Lamps, such as those ranked by Sea Salt Health, are generally made by placing a light bulb inside a hollowed piece of pure Himalayan salt. They can also be made by placing a light source underneath a basket filled with smaller chunks of the salt. Both types produce a soft, pink glow. According to Colour Affects, simply adding pink to a space can have soothing, nurturing effects.

Himalayan sea salt lamps work because the salt attracts water molecules in the air. These water molecules carry bacteria, mold, pollen, smoke, and other nasty particles that make us sick and dampen the mood of an environment. The particles stick to the Himalayan salt lamp, while the heat dries and eliminates them, in a process that cyclically cleans the air and creates an overall healthier environment.

According to Negative Ionizers, Himalayan salt lamps should be placed wherever you spend the majority of your time. For example, you may want to keep one on your bedside table and another in your office. Enhancing your indoor environment with a Himalayan salt lamp can have an extraordinary effect on your health. In addition to cleaning the air, Himalayan salt lamps are thought to reduce the frequency of flu and migraine, induce relaxation, improve concentration, and support sleep.

Life Lessons From Einstein's "Gedankenexperiments"

Life Lessons From Einstein's "Gedankenexperiments"

Life Lessons From Einstein's "Gedankenexperiments"

You don’t have to explicitly understand Albert Einstein’s “General Theory of Relativity” to appreciate how the man came up with it.

As a 28-year-old, sitting at his post in the Swiss Patent Office, Einstein imagined a housepainter tumbling off of a roof. How would the man experience gravity, he (macabrely) pondered? In what Einstein would later call one of his “happiest moments,” the scientist concluded that the free-falling handyman would feel weightless on his way to the ground. That’s on account of the “equivalence principle.” Basically: it’s impossible to distinguish the effects of gravity and inertial mass (acceleration).

On his way to officially proving general relativity, Einstein’s examples shifted into the cosmos. He wrote about rockets and planets and published field equations on spacetime curvature. But it’s notable that such a breakthrough in his life — and in the history of human enlightenment — arrived while he was sitting around, allowing his brain to wander.

Einstein’s Sense of Imagination

The housepainter anecdote was far from the first time Einstein put a thought experiment to good use. As a 16-year-old, he imagined himself riding a wave of light at a constant speed, like a surfer — would the light, perhaps, appear frozen to him?

Einstein’s many thought experiments, or gedankenexperiments, served as entry-points to some of the most groundbreaking theories in physics. And they wouldn’t have been possible, had Einstein not consistently afforded himself the time, solitude, imagination and boredom to sit around and think.

Before he set foot in a physical laboratory to assess his theories, Einstein was hashing through them in his brain: he imagined scenarios with elevators, trains, lightning and blind beetles. Sometimes, he even invented devices that didn’t exist, in order to explain or anticipate various phenomena.

All Power to the Daydreamer

The average human being will obviously never replicate Einstein’s output. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth adopting his process. These gedankenexperiments are an example of the power of reflective thinking. Aimless, meandering thought patterns — of the sort too many of us leave behind to childhood — can supercharge your creativity. And creativity leads to productivity.

Not that productivity needs to be the ultimate endgame, should you choose to re-embrace your sense of boredom. There’s value in creativity for creativity’s sake; after all, it’s associative with peace and quiet, time in nature, increased empathy and a relaxed heart rate. It encourages the development of new neural networks. It’s random and fun.

And we’re aware, sitting here at a desk strewn with Apple products, that it’s really freaking hard. Perhaps Einstein wouldn’t have been contemplating the housepainter’s imminent demise had he been answering emails, or shopping for a new sweater. Just know that it’s worth it. Finding a way to sit around and do nothing, on a consistent basis, will undoubtedly lead to your brain’s very best work.

How To Boost Weight Loss & Wellness. A Morning Drink To Pave The Way

Want to know how to boost weight loss, improve your skin, cleanse & detox your liver, stimulate your digestive function, and start the morning fresh?

Well listen up because it’s a super simple method that I use every day myself and get all my clients using too.

A lemon and apple cider drink taken with warm water on an empty stomach first thing in the morning! It really does work and has so many benefits too.

Lemon & Apple Cider Vinegar

Lemon is a natural antioxidant, has antiviral, anti bacterial and immune boosting properties to promote wellness on many levels. It’s loaded with vitamin C, bioflavanoids, magnesiumcalcium and other vitamins and minerals, and is an incredibly neutralizing and cleansing fruit for the body.

Apple cider vinegar has long been used as a natural remedy for many things. It has natural anti bacterial and anti viral properties. It also contains many minerals, has alkaline properties, can aid with blood sugar regulation, and help lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

5 Ways Lemon & Apple Cider Boost Weight Loss & Wellness

1.Balance the body

If you’re in the process of losing weight chances are you’ve come into the process with a body that is way out of balance. This can occur on a variety of levels but one of the areas that is most important to get under control is the digestive system.

The digestive system is key in helping you to effective metabolise your food, extract nutrients, and eliminate toxins. When the digestive system has become inhibited by the consumption of highly processed foods and so forth, then one of the best ways to help bring back the balance is to drink this wonderfully neutralizing and balancing drink.

2. Alkalize the body

Having an over acid body can lead to low level chronic inflammation in the tissues throughout your body and organs. This can slow down the process and function and also possibly lead to disease.

Although you’d probably think of lemons as being acidic, they actually have the opposite effect and are incredibly alkalizing. When your body has a more stable pH balance it help reduce inflammation and will generally function better, keeping your immune system in good shape and helping to ward off disease.

3. Cleanse & detoxify the liver

The liver is an amazing organ and is responsible for processing all the nutrients we eat and then shipping them out to the various parts of our body. It also helps to process the toxins we constantly bombard our bodies with. This lemon drink helps to cleanse toxins out of the liver and also stimulates function to help more effective and efficient processing of nutrients, including increasing fat metabolism.

4. Aid digestion & cleansing of the colon

This little magic drink greatly helps with the stimulation of digestive enzymes throughout your gut and helps promote healthy gut bacteria. There are thousands of these enzymes and bacteria working hard to digest your food effectively so giving them a helping hand is a very beneficial thing. It also helps to assist with better elimination by stimulating the bowel. So if you suffer from constipation it can be a great help too.

5. Boost weight loss

All of the above benefits will help your body function better and improve your digestion and metabolism and thus increase your weight loss results.

I’ve also found that one additional benefit is that it helps to decrease sugar cravingsand regulate appetite, my clients have also found this to be true. The other great benefit is that when you kick start the day on a good foot like this, it often means the rest of the day is going to be great too!

Of course it also helps to accompany this morning ritual by following with a day filled with healthy nutritious food. Any attempt to have only the lemon and apple cider drink and still eating crap is certainly not going to help too much. The point is that this wonderful drink helps set the perfect scene on the inside of your body so that everything else you do will have additional benefits and make your results all the more rewarding.

Morning Drink Recipe

Place the juice of half a lemon and 1-2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a mug. Fill the mug with warm filtered water. Have it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

If you currently drink tea or coffee first thing in the morning, you’ll just be having a lemon, apple cider tea instead!

How to Repair Your Kidneys Naturally Using Baking Soda

There’s no doubt, baking soda has a plethora of uses around the house. But, this common household ingredient is also highly beneficial for a number of health issues.

Sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3), or commonly known as baking soda, is a crystalline chemical substance normally found as a fine powder with salty and alkaline taste.

The first recorded use of baking soda was in ancient Egypt, where it was used as paint for writing hieroglyphs. In modern times, the first factory that produced baking soda was opened in New York in 1846 by two bakers, John Dwight and Austin Church.

Baking Soda Uses

  • Baking soda is an effective antacid when combined with water.
  • Baking soda and water can effectively relieve allergic reactions from poison ivy or sumac when applied on the affected area as paste.
  • It can effectively remove splinters.
  • The pancreas also produces bicarbonate and baking soda protects your kidneys.

How to Repair Your Kidneys Naturally Using Baking Soda

Kidney disorders are normally accompanied by low bicarbonate levels. This condition is otherwise known as metabolic acidosis.

As stated by Dr. Thomas P. Kennedy, “switching a sodium bicarbonate solution for saline infusion prior to administration of radio-contrast material seems to decrease the incidence of nephropathy.”

A recent study led by Magdi Yaqoob, Professor of Renal Medicine at the Whitechapel hospital in Royal London, was the first controlled test in a clinical setting that examined the effects of baking soda on kidneys. The study involved 134 subjects suffering from advanced kidney disease. During a period of one year, a randomly chosen group was given a tablet containing sodium bicarbonate on daily basis. At the end of the one-year study, the kidney function in these subjects declined at a rate expected with normal aging and these patients were less likely to need dialysis. Also, this group experienced 2/3 slower decline of health than the control group.

According to professor Magdi Yaqob:

It is wonderful.’
