10 Japanese Beauty Secrets for Flawless Skin

Have you ever wondered how Japanese women have beautiful skin?

In this article, I’m going to share the 10 daily beauty habits of all Japanese actresses who are famous for their beautiful skin do.

I’m a Japanese girl born and bred myself, and I grew up studying, learning and practising their beauty secrets. I can honestly say I agree with their beauty rituals after 25 years of practising them since the age of 13.

It’s the little things that they do every single day make the difference!

Are you ready to find out the Japanese beauty secrets?

Let’s get to it!

10 Japanese Beauty Secrets for Flawless Skin

[1] Take Time To Remove Makeup & Do Skincare At Night No Matter How Busy It Gets

This is a must for anyone who wishes to have perfect skin like Japanese. All Japanese women who look much younger than their age swear by this rule.

Remove makeup thoroughly and gently.

Makeup is made of oils and chemicals, and they get mixed up with the skin’s sebum and turn into some toxins as the day goes by.

When you wear makeup for more than 10 hours a day, it is highly likely you are damaging the skin with the chemical reaction between your makeup and skin’s natural oil.

In Japan, it is even said that you get 3 years older when you leave your makeup on all day long. Plus, you are prone to suffer from all sort of skin troubles like acne, blemishes, and wrinkles.

So, make it a rule of thumb: REMOVE MAKE UP NO MATTER WHAT at night! Also, try to wear no makeup once a week to let your skin breathe, rest and recover.

[2] Separate Eye Makeup From The Rest When Cleansing

The skin around the eyes is much thinner and very delicate. Regular makeup removers can be too strong, so make sure you use a makeup remover that is designed for eyes only.

Use cotton swabs and cotton pads if needs be so that you don’t rub your eyes and damage the skin.

[3] Hand-Press A Lot of Japanese Lotion

After cleansing, applying some lotion is a must in Japanese skincare. It is very hard to find someone who does not use one in Japan.

It is a unique concept and also one of the beauty secrets of J-Beauty. It’s similar to toners or essences in K-Beauty but not the same.

Japanese lotions are primarily designed to enhance hydration and elasticity before the next steps (serum, cream, etc.).

Japanese women hand-press lotion until the skin feels supple. They call it mochi hada (rice cake-like skin)! Mochi is rice cake and hada means skin in Japanese.

You want to achieve the soft and bouncy feeling you get when you touch mochi 🙂

[4] Have A Few Moisturisers

There are 2 types of moisturisers in Japan.

Milky lotion and cream.

Milky lotions are called “Nyueki (乳液) in Japanese, and it is unique to Japanese skincare. It is a light version of cream. They contain more water than creams which make the texture lighter.

Japanese women switch between cream and milky lotion (nyueki) depending on their skin condition and seasons.

For instance, if your skin feels dry in winter, you may want to use some cream. Whereas in summer, a milky lotion (nyueki) might be a better option for its light texture. If you are suffering from acne, a milky lotion is a good option as it is less oily than a cream.

The key is to be sensitive to any change in your skin and apply what’s best for the particular skin condition.

[5] Have A Bath EVERY NIGHT

Most Japanese people have a bath at night after having a shower. It is their tradition to take time to relax and do self-care after a long day.

There are nearly 3,000 hot springs (onsen) in Japan, and the number of fountainheads exceeds 27,000. Japanese people have a deep respect for nature and embraced the healing power of nature since ancient times.

It is also a part of Japanese skincare rituals for most Japanese women, and they take time to have a bath every night before doing their skincare.

When you have a bath BEFORE doing your skincare, there are several benefits:

  1. Easier to remove dirt
  2. Increase the blood flow and boost metabolism
  3. Relaxation, stress relief

As your body warms up, the pores open and it becomes easier to cleanse thoroughly.

Also, the increased blood flow will help to release any toxins from the body, so you develop less acne and have fewer skin troubles. Most of all, you relieve anxiety and stress built up from the day.

[6] Wash Your Face With Lukewarm Water Only In the Morning

It may be going against the grain, but it’s best to not wash your face with a cleansing product in the morning, especially if you have sensitive skin.

You might sweat and become a little oily during the night, but that can be easily be cleaned by washing your face with lukewarm water. Water is more than adequate.

Proper cleansing is only needed once a day at night.

This way, your skin’s natural barrier does not get stripped away too often, and you are less likely to develop skin troubles like acne, dry skin and sensitive skin.

Many Japanese women follow this rule to let skin’s natural healing power do the work instead of completely relying on skincare products.

[7] Never Ever Rub, Scrub or Scratch

The top layer of the skin is only 0.02mm. It is ULTRA THIN.

Imagine, you’re rubbing, scrubbing, scratching, massaging a lot.

You are voluntarily making the skin age faster than necessary.

In Japanese skincare, doing everything in the most gentle manner possible applies to every step of the ritual. It is also a way to show respect to your skin for Japanese women.

[8] Always Eat & Drink What Is Good For Skin – Mainly Japanese Diet

It comes quite natural for Japanese women to eat healthily because the Japanese diet is rich in fish and vegetables – basically mainly unprocessed food and very little refined sugar.

Most Japanese do NOT like soft drinks, but they drink either tea or water (non-sparkling). Personally as a Japanese person, I was shocked to see how much soft drink western people drink when I first moved to Europe!

Also, another point worth mentioning is seasoning. In the Japanese diet, you hardly use butter, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, jams, milk, or sugar as the primary condiment.

In most Japanese dishes, fermented seasonings (soy sauce, miso, vinegar, mirin, and sake) along with dashi broth are used, and they add beautiful aromatic flavour to foods without the heavy use of salt and sugar.

It is light on the stomach, easy to digest and most of all anti-ageing 😉

[9] Drink Sayu First Thing In The Morning

This morning ritual is very popular among Japanese actresses and models and gets featured a lot in magazines and all types of media.

Sayu is basically hot distilled water, meaning the water is free of impurities and purified. It’s softer than bottled or tap water and easy on the digestive system.

In Japan, you let babies drink cooled down Sayu, and also people use it when feeling sick and taking medicines.

Since Sayu does not have impurities or toxins, it helps to cleanse body better than any other type of drinks.

Also, it warms up your body, which helps to improve your metabolism and digestion, so it’s good for keeping your weight off too.

How To Make & Drink Sayu

  1. Put some water in a kettle and let it boil for 15 mins
  2. Let it cool down to a temperature which is just above your body temperature
  3. Drink it first in the morning and wait 30 mins until breakfast

J-Beauty Tips

  • Recommended daily amount is 800ml
  • Don’t drink it all in one go, but spread it throughout the day
  • Drink slowly – take 10 – 20 mins
  • never too hot, never cold, do not dilute by adding water

[10] Make Time For Self-Care With Beauty Rituals Every Day

Being able to take care of oneself and present yourself well to others is very important in Japanese society. It is a sign of your showing respect to others and of a person with high self-esteem.

In Japanese society, you are expected to show care and respect for others, and that starts REALLY early in life from nursery.

The key is RESPECT.

This notion is deep-rooted in the Japanese culture, and it applies to beauty rituals and skincare routines too!

Most Japanese women have their own beauty rituals. They make sure they take time at night even if it’s really a short while to do some self-care.

There we are 😉 respect yourself, respect your body and soul.

10 Reasons Why Japanese Women Age Slowly

10 Reasons Why Japanese Women Age Slowly

Japan Is One Of The Most Beautiful Countries In The World. The Green Mountains, Vibrant Culture, Blue Sea, Delicious Local Cuisine, And Friendly People Make Japan One Of The Best Places To Visit. If You’Ve Taken A Trip To Japan Or Met Many Japanese People, One Thing That Is Easily Noticeable Is How Slim And Young They Look, Especially The Women. You Can Easily Mistake A 50-Year Old Japanese Woman For A 30-Year-Old. Japan Is Also Home To The Highest Proportion Of People Who’Ve Lived For More Than 100 Years In The World.

10 Reasons Why Japanese Women Age Slowly

All these may have you wondering; how exactly do they do it? Well, the following are some of the reasons why Japanese women stay slim and age less quickly:

DRINKING GREEN TEA
Japanese women love their green tea. If you walk into any Japanese home, the first thing you’re likely to be offered is a steaming hot cup of green tea. The powdered green tea (matcha) is made from high-quality tea leaves which are dried and ground into a fine powder. The powder is then mixed with boiling hot water to make the green tea.
Green tea is not only sweet but also has been proven to have a wide range of health benefits. It is rich in powerful antioxidants that delay the aging process and helps with weight loss.

CONSUMING FERMENTED FOODS
Japanese women often consume fermented foods such as kombucha, kefir, tempeh, miso, and kimchi. Fermented foods are those which have gone through lacto fermentation, a process through which natural bacteria feed on sugar and starch in food and create lactic acid. Fermentation helps preserve natural food nutrients and created beneficial enzymes, omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, and other probiotics. It also breaks down food into a more digestible form which helps in weight loss.

SEAFOOD
Unlike people from most parts of the world, Japanese people prefer seafood to red meat which is known to cause various health problems like obesity, inflammatory diseases, and high cholesterol. Since Japan is surrounded by a seafood-rich sea, things like tuna, salmon, shrimp, and mackerel are extremely popular.

Fish is great for you because it’s rich in proteins and omega-3 fatty acids which help reduce body fat.

EATING SMALL PORTIONS
Portion control is a large part of Japanese cuisine. The Japanese eat smaller portions of food than most other cultures. At mealtimes, Japanese people usually spread their food out in multiple dishes that take up the entire table. Plates and rice bowls are also smaller compared to other cultures. This makes the food seem more as well as makes it take longer to eat. Japanese people also use chopsticks instead of spoons which slow down the speed at which they eat. Eating slowly helps them eat less thereby keeping their weight in check.

WALKING CULTURE
The most basic form of exercise is walking. Walking is super easy yet very few people, especially in America, walk enough. The Japanese cities and transport systems are structured in such a way that people are more encouraged to walk than take cars. In the cities, trains are the primary means of transport which means people have to walk to the train station and back. Apart from walking, Japanese women love their bicycles with many even using them as their primary means of transport. Having a good walk daily or riding a bike daily boosts energy, improves cardiovascular health, and helps people stay slim.

EATING IS MOSTLY AT SPECIFIED TIMES
In Japan, it is quite rare to see someone eating a burger or burrito as they walk in the street. Mealtimes are sacred in Japan and are treated as such; no TV, no work, or movement while eating. Although you are allowed to eat whenever you want, eating on the go is considered impolite in Japan. This helps them avoid overeating which helps them remain slim.

Healthy cooking methods

Japanese food involves a whole lot of boiling, steaming, stir-frying, pan-grilling, slow-cooking and fermenting. Raw, simmered, steamed, and grilled techniques are more preferred because they help avoid the excessive use of oil which promotes weight gain. In addition to helping avoid weight gain, these cooking methods also preserve the taste and nutrients in the ingredients. Deep-fried foods, such as tempura, are rare but when served, there are usually other accompaniments to balance the meal.

EATING A BALANCED DIET
The secret to eating healthy is always ensuring that every meal you eat is balanced. It should have some protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, and fiber to aid in the digestion process. Traditionally, Japanese people eat lots of rice, vegetables, and fish. At the end of the meal, they prefer eating fresh fruit instead of sugar-laden desserts like ice cream that will only make you fat. Eating such a diet consistently ensures they are only getting beneficial nutrients in the body, not those that will lead to weight gain.

PRACTICING MARTIAL ARTS
In Japan, learning martial arts is more than just a sport; it is the way of life and it is connected to their spiritual practice. Both men and women practice martial arts from a young age. Some styles include Aikido, Iaido, judo, and popular Karate. Martial arts gives the whole body a proper workout that engages all the muscles in the body. In addition to promoting cardiovascular health and learning important self-defense skills, martial arts help Japanese women stay slim.

SKINCARE ROUTINES
Japanese women are known for their flawless skin. They don’t get wrinkles as soon as most other women and they also look younger for their age. While genetics are partly responsible for this, they also don’t leave anything to chance. One of the key factors that keep Japanese women’s skin fresh is hygiene. Japanese women use an oil-based cleanser to remove all traces of makeup and balance moisture. Touch also plays an integral role in their skincare routine. Facial Massages are used by many Japanese women to promote healthy blood flow to the skin and stimulate the regeneration of new skin cells.
The Morning Banana Diet for Fast Weight Loss

The Morning Banana Diet for Fast Weight Loss

What?! Another diet?! Yes, this time we'll be talking about the morning banana diet and how we can use it simply for weight loss. But how does it work? Well, first of all, although its called the banana diet, bananas won't be the only thing you'll be eating when you're on this diet plan!

The Morning Banana Diet for Fast Weight Loss

There's a bit of history behind the morning banana diet and how it acquired its name.
The Morning Banana Diet which also goes by the name Asa-Banana Diet was created in 2008 by Sumiko Watanabe, a Japanese pharmacist and preventive medicine expert in order to help her husband Hamachi lose weight. Hamachi was also involved in a similar field, studying traditional chinese medicine and counseling at the Japan Body Care Academy.

By following the Morning Banana Diet, Hamachi was able to drop 38 pounds. Quickly thereafter this magical diet spread across stores in Japan and made its way to America eventually. In addition, three books were written in Japan on the subject.

Now what are the rules of this diet? Well, the general idea is to start your day to eat a banana in the morning, as the name suggests. But there are some certain rules and guidelines to follow as well.

RULE #1: EAT A BANANA FOR BREAKFAST

You're allowed to eat more than one, but it's important not to stuff yourself to the point of fullness or discomfort. As a general rule, don't eat when you feel past 80% full.
You can eat only raw, unfrozen, uncooked bananas--although other fruits are allowed to be substituted.

RULE #2: EAT NORMALLY FOR LUNCH AND DINNER

At the latest, dinner must be eaten by 8pm although it's best to stick to 6pm.
As for the limits on the type of foods to eat? Well, there are actually no limits on the type of food you're allowed to eat for lunch or dinner including the portion sizes or amount. However you shouldn't eat a dessert with any of your meals.

Eat until you're satisfied or 80% full but try not to get past that or you won't get the best results.

RULE #3: ONLY DRINK WATER
When you're on this diet you're only allowed to drink room temperature water--preferably mineral or filtered. Drink in sips, and don't use water to wash down the food. As for how much water to drink there's actually not a certain amount but it shouldn't be consumed in excess. You can drink beer or wine but only on rare social occasions.

RULE #4: EAT MINDFULLY
It's incredibly important to practice mindful eating, as you should be in general. Properly chew the banana and other foods and be mindful of the taste.

RULE #5: MODERATE EXERCISE
Exercise isn't really required, but do it if you want to. You probably shouldn't pressure yourself to exercise but at least try to walk a little bit if possible every day.

RULE #6: AFTERNOON SNACKS ARE ALLOWED
A hint of chocolate, cookies, and other snacks are allowed at approximately 3pm. However, donuts, ice cream, or crisps are not permitted. They're tons of calories anyway, you don't need them!
If you prefer salty snacks you can try popcorn--but be aware of the fat content.
In the case where you feel hungry after dinner you can opt in for some fresh fruit. Although it shouldn't become a daily habit when you're on this plan.

RULE #7: GO TO BED EARLY
Although it's recommended to be in bed as early as possible, try to get in bed before midnight.
Leave room for at least 4 hours between your final meal or snack and bed time.

RULE #8: KEEP A DIET DIARY
Keeping a diet diary became a natural norm which allowed dieters to document their progress for the diet when the original Japanese Banana Diet was developed on the internet. You should do the same!

4 Ancient Japanese Secrets For Staying Slim And Healthy

Japan is known as one of the countries with the population who have a slim and healthy body. This is not unrelated to their lifestyle and diet.

According to the Western health expert, one should consider three important elements in the struggle to lose weight.

Here is what you should know:

  • Diet makes up 80-90% of the achievement;
  • Workout can significantly boost the effects;
  • The workout must include cardio, weights, and flexibility for optimal weight loss.

You should consume a balanced diet, engage in physical activity, and drink lots of water to stay in excellent health and fit. However, when it comes to wellness and weight loss, every culture has its own set of standards.

But various laws are followed in every society. We provide you with the top four Japanese health precautions. We find the Japanese methods and therapies a little odd, yet they seem to be very effective, as the WHO reports that the Japanese have the world's longest life expectancy.

While every Western culture holds that calories play a major role in both weight gain and loss, the Japanese have a rather different perspective.

These are their secrets when it comes to health and weight loss:

Warmth is the most important

The food we consume is turned into energy. During the summer, fruits and vegetables cool the body and ease the adjustment of the body to the high temperatures.

On the other hand, the food we consume in the winter is higher in calories, as the body needs to warm up in the cold weather. Raw foods are beneficial, but you should also try to consume warmer foods more often.

Meals

Japanese believe that liquids negatively affect digestion, so they do not drink anything while eating.

Liquids cool the system and absorb its warmth. Also, water neutralizes the stomach acid, so the system will need to spend additional energy to digest foods. The best sources of liquids are soups, fruits, and vegetables.

If you eat like a sumo wrestler, you will look like one

Sumo wrestlers eat nothing for breakfast, and as soon as they get up, they start off with an intense training. Then, they eat a super rich lunch and take a nap afterward.

They have only two meals daily, but they are huge. Therefore, even though you exercise regularly, if you eat too much, you will gain weight. It is a fact that junk food and large meals are more powerful than exercising.

Therefore, your diet should be balanced, and you should also sleep well and be physically active. To eat healthy and lose weight at the same time check this > 2 week diet plan.

Hot baths prolong life

Hot baths relax the body, reduce stress, and stimulate circulation. According to the Japanese, they also help digestion, prolong life, and improve skin complexion. Experts believe that the perfect temperature is 100-104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Japanese Discover The Secret Of Their Long Life Expectancy !

Japanese Discover The Secret Of Their Long Life Expectancy !

Do you know that more than 50% of the Japanese population live into their 90’s? a study has concluded that the Asians as a nation have one of the world’s highest average life expectancy, estimated at about 83,7 years.

Japanese Discover The Secret Of Their Long Life Expectancy !

As a simple comparation, Russians average lifespan is 68,7.

Another interesting fact, according to the writings in the Guinness World Record’s Book is that 5 out of the 15 oldest people ever recorded were actually Japanese. Amazing, right?

Here are few of the secrets that promote a healthier lifestyle, practiced by the Asian nation.

Squatting toilets

Squatting toilets are an older version of toilets, that are common for Japan. Until very recently, most of the public toilets in the country were like this. It is believed that going in the toilet in a squatting toilet takes less straining and lowers the tension in both the heart and the bowel movements.

Though new toilets are fancier and smell better, they can result in constipation, IBS, hemorrhoids and even colon cancer. Though you don’t have them at your home, you can easily achieve the effect – just take a footstool and get it in front of your toilet seat.

Smaller dishes

The food in Japan and the portions are usually served on smaller plates than the ones we usually use. This can prevent overeating and overburdening the gut. Japan has one of the lowest obesity rates throughout the whole world! This naturally prevents heart attacks and strokes, high cholesterol and many other illnesses associated with this medical condition.

Less sitting down

Did you know that every single school in Japan has morning group exercise, also known under the name of raijo taiso. Also, most of the individuals in Japan use a bike to go to work or to get around, instead of choosing the train or a car. Studies have shown a link between more sitting and a higher probability of earlier death.

Universal healthcare

All Japanese residents enjoy a healthcare coverage by the law in their land – whether they work or don’t. the standard of the medical treatment is also very high – they get discovered and their potential health issues get identified at quite an early stage. This is because health checks are for free, so an average Japanese person goes to the doctor about 4 times more than an average American!

Family time

Opposite to the Japanese traditional family and appreciation of family time, Americans seem to enjoy self-time and selfishly want to abandon their parents as soon as they are stable on their own.

Many Americans live with unknown people and roommates instead of their relatives and closest family circle, long before they form a family on their own. In Japan, the eldest child lives with the parents. Having family around helps a person with a psychological boost and a purpose to live longer.

Japanese diet

Compared to the USA, Japanese eat more fish and less red meat. Also, they eat almost no fried and overbaked food, but they tend to eat raw and easily cooked food. Their food preparation involves steaming, slow cooking and fermenting.

All of these things you can do yourself – small changes can mean a huge improvement and small steps towards a healthier lifestyle can easily add up a decade to your life! Isn’t it worth it?

This Japanese Breathing Technique Can Help You Lose Belly Fat

Japanese actor Miki Ryosuke recently discovered an interesting method that helped him lose 13 kg (28.7 lb) and 12 cm (4.7 ″) from his waist in just a few weeks.

Ryosuke, 55, says he developed the diet by accident while using breathing techniques to relieve back pain. Instead, he lost about 13 pounds and nearly five inches (12.7 centimeters) off his waist in just under two months, according to Oddity Central.

We invite you to try this technique and understand exactly how it helps you lose weight.

How It Work

Ryosuke called it a long-breath diet. The technique involves taking a certain position, taking a three-second breath, and then a strong exhalation for seven seconds.

Most European doctors support the use of breathing exercises for weight loss and explain their effectiveness as follows: Fat is made up of oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen.

When the oxygen we breathe reaches fat cells, it breaks them down into components (carbon and water). So the more oxygen our bodies use, the more fat we burn.

The theory behind the diet is two-fold. First, wrap and therefore tone your abs. Second, the idea is that it stimulates metabolism by increasing oxygen in the blood.

What You Should Do

Perform the exercise every day for 2-10 minutes.

  • Stand up and push one leg forward and the other back.
  • Now you need to strain your buttocks and transfer your weight to your back foot.
  • Begin to inhale slowly for 3 seconds, raising your arms above your head.
  • Then exhale forcefully for 7 seconds, straining all the muscles in your body.

Also, as experts say, this technique will strengthen the muscles of the body and increase metabolism.

How To Choose The Best Diet For A Happy Healthy Gut

How To Choose The Best Diet For A Happy Healthy Gut

How To Choose The Best Diet For A Happy Healthy Gut

What are the best foods to eat to heal your gut and restore your gut health? Tips and food lists to make healing your gut easier.

Gut health is the foundation of overall health. What's the best gut health diet to help improve your gut health and keep your gut healthy and happy?

What’s The Best Gut Health Diet?

1. The 4 F’s Of Gut Health

So how can you keep your digestive system feeling good and functioning optimally? What are the best foods for gut health?

When it comes to foods that help promote a healthy gut, there are two main categories you’ll want to focus on:

  • Probiotics: These repopulate your gut with good bacteria.
  • Prebiotics:  These are food for your good gut bacteria.   Prebiotics are fibers that we don’t digest ourselves, so they are consumed by the good bacteria in our gut.

Taken together, prebiotic and probiotic foods work together to create a healthier, happier gut.   If probiotics vs prebiotics seem confusing, it’s worth the extra reading to figure it out!

The key foods are easy to remember if we break them down into four main groups.

I like to call them the 4 F’s you need to heal your gut:

  • Fermented Foods
  • Fiber
  • Fruit
  • Foundation Foods

#1:  Fermented Foods

Fermented foods are all the rage right now – and for good reason!

Fermentation not only creates a wide range of tangy, zingy, spicy foods, but it also results in a natural source of probiotics. These fermented foods provide natural probiotics or good gut bacteria to repopulate your healing gut.

#2: Fiber

Fiber – Fiber is a natural prebiotic which acts as the food for good bacteria. These fiber based prebiotics are found in certain fruits, vegetables, and whole grains

#3: Fruits

While fruit is a healthy choice, there are a few fruits that are head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to gut health.

#4: Foundation Foods

These are nutrient-dense foods that are super healthy for your gut.  Once you’ve fleshed out your diet with probiotic and prebiotic foods, these foundation foods give you the extra oomph you need to get your gut health back on track.

2. Change Your Diet – Heal Your Gut

What you eat determines which bacteria thrive in your gut. And research tells us that the good bacteria get stronger when we feed them the right foods.

Did you know that your body can create a new gut microbiota, in just 24 hours – by changing what you eat? (source)

This means that even a lifetime of bad eating is fixable — at least as far as your gut microbes are concerned.

So it’s never too late to start healing your gut. Improving your gut health can help you feel better, lose weight, provide sustained energy and clear up a host of health maladies.

3. Fermented Foods

Fermented foods supply your digestive system with lots of healthy, living microorganisms to crowd out the accumulated unhealthy bacteria, and support overall health.

Fermentation is a process that’s been around for centuries. Our ancestors discovered long ago, probably by accident, that fermenting foods was a great way to preserve them and make them last longer than just a season.

When foods ferment, they create lactic acid or alcohol, which helps to preserve the food. In the process, fermentation produces large amounts of probiotics, which are a bonus for your gut.

As a super added bonus, the fermentation process also adds additional nutrients to foods.

Fermented foods are trending for a reason. They inoculate your gut with healthy live bacteria and microorganisms that help heal your gut, crowd out the bad bacteria and give a boost to your overall health.

Here are some powerhouse fermented foods that you can easily add to your gut health diet to supercharge your gut health plan:

  • Sauerkraut:  Sauerkraut (or fermented cabbage) is a staple in German cuisine. You can find it in almost any grocery store, but it’s even better to stick with freshly fermented varieties from health food stores to achieve the full nutrient value. It’s easy to find recipes for homemade versions if you are crafty in the kitchen. As a nutrient bonus, sauerkraut is high in B vitamins and can help in the absorption of iron.Pile it on a hot dog, Reuben sandwich, or use it to season just about any grain, legume, scramble, meat, or vegetable dish.
  • Tempeh: A fermented soy-based food that’s been around for centuries, tempeh is becoming easier to find these days, with more and more restaurants creating with it and more stores stocking it on shelves.Tempeh is great in salads, on sandwiches, or as a tasty bacon alternative. Just make sure you thoroughly cook tempeh before you eat it.You may need to season it with a heavy hand because plain tempeh can be very bland.
  • Miso:  It may surprise you that this traditional Japanese soybean paste is a probiotic powerhouse. I had my first taste of miso in a soup at a Japanese restaurant.Beyond soup,  this soybean paste has a whole host of uses in the kitchen. Miso paste can be used to make soup, added to salad dressings, or turned into a healthy mustard or plant-based miso-mayo. Whenever you choose soy-based products, remember to choose organic because most non-organic soy is genetically modified.
  • Kefir: Kefir is a cultured, fermented beverage that tastes a lot like a thinner yogurt drink. It’s made using starter grains, just as sourdough bread is made from a starter.Kefir is most commonly made with dairy milk, but it can be made with non-dairy alternatives including coconut milk, rice milk, coconut water, and goat’s milk. Because it’s a fermented product, even people who are lactose intolerant can tolerate dairy based kefir.Kefir is another product that you can DIY at home to make your own tasty probiotic. Just make sure you don’t add much sugar to it or you’ll be negating its good effect on your gut bacteria.
  • Pickles: The humble pickle is another great probiotic food choice. Pickles, whether they are the cucumber variety, or made from other vegetables, are high in antioxidants, good gut bugs, and probiotics. But not all pickled foods are fermented.Stick with fresh varieties that are sold in the refrigerated section to make sure that the good bacteria is alive and that the nutrients stay intact.Try making your own pickles. My grandma was a champion pickle maker and she passed down all her recipes to me. Delicious and satisfying to make yourself.
  • Yogurt: Yogurt is a naturally fermented food that can offer some serious probiotic power if you choose the right kinds. While most yogurts contain bacteria, make sure you look for a yogurt that has at least 1 billion live or active colony-forming units (CFUs) on the label. And stay away from the yogurts loaded with sugar, since sugar is bad for your healing gut.
  • Kimchi: Kimchi is a spicy Korean alternative to sauerkraut. Kimchi is fermented cabbage made with several different spices like salt, chili powder, onion, garlic, and ginger.Studies have shown that this fermented cabbage Korean staple is rich in two strains of good bacteria associated with better gut health : Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium.Kimchi adds a spicy kick to just about anything.

Tip:  Many of these fermented foods are high in salt, so think about eating small portions of fermented foods daily and using them as a source of salt, replacing table salt, soy sauce, or other salt sources with pickled vegetables.

4. Fiber

Fiber is the most crucial ingredient for gut health. Unfortunately, only 3% of Americans get the recommended 40 grams of fiber they need each day.

Fiber is a potent pre-biotic, feeding the good bacteria your gut needs to be healthy.

Fiber is also a warrior in the battle against diverticulitis, the inflammation of the intestine. According to a medical study, eating insoluble fiber-rich foods has been found to reduce the risk of diverticulitis by an impressive 40% (1).

Here are some of the best prebiotic powerhouses to add to your gut health diet:

  • Beans: Beans feed good gut bacteria, which in turn revs up your immune system. They are packed with fiber, protein, folate, and B vitamins, which play a role in regulating a healthy gut and a healthy brain.
  • Polenta: Polenta, or cornmeal mush is high in fiber and delicious.Polenta’s insoluble fiber travels directly to the colon, where it ferments into multiple types of gut bacteria.
  • Flaxseed: Flaxseed fuels your good gut flora, contains soluble fiber and can help improve digestive regularity. You’ve got to eat flaxseed ground up, or the seeds will pass through your digestive tract without being digested at all. Add ground flaxseed to smoothies or salads. Keep your flaxseed in the refrigerator because once it’s ground, it can go rancid fast.
  • Jicama: This sweet, crunchy root vegetable is packed with fiber. One cup of raw jicama adds a whopping 6g of fiber to your diet.High in vitamin C, jicama is also great for weight loss and blood sugar control. Add it to salads, stir-fries or enjoy it as a crunchy snack.
  • Jerusalem artichokes: Also known as sunroot, sunchoke, or earth apple, the Jerusalem artichoke is high in inulin, an insoluble fiber. Inulin travels to the colon where it ferments into healthy good bacteria. You can cook Jerusalem artichokes like a potato or shred it raw and add it to salads.Beware though: Start small with this vegetable because it can cause gas until your gut adjusts.

5. Fruit

Most fruits are healthy options, but these three are powerful additions to your gut health diet.

  • Apples: Not only are apples available nearly everywhere, but they are also an excellent addition to a gut health diet.

They are high in fiber, and a recent study found green apples boost good gut bacteria

Stewed apples have been found to be good for your microbiome, and they may also help to heal your gut. An apple a day really can keep the doctor away.

  • Blueberries: Blueberries are little delicious bombs of healthy goodness. A well-known superfood, blueberries are full of antioxidants, vitamin K compounds, and fiber. If that weren’t enough, studies have shown that blueberries also diversify our gut bacteria (2).
  • Bananas: Bananas have long been a standard prescription for an upset stomach. That’s because compounds in bananas work to maintain harmony in your gut microbiome. Bananas may also reduce inflammation, due to high levels of potassium and magnesium.

So slice some on your oatmeal, throw one in a smoothie, or keep them on hand for a midday snack.

A Quick and Simple Way to Lose Weight with This Japanese

Hitoshi Watanabe's "The Morning Banana Diet" introduced the morning banana diet, and it quickly gained popularity all over the world.

It is very easy and doesn't call for any special dietary adjustments; all you need to do is eat bananas in the morning and drink room temperature water.

Can it be this easy?

Apparently, it can. Watanabe tried to lose weight in a number of ways and none provided positive effects, so together with his wife Sumiko, a pharmaceutist, he managed to find the one that gave the desired results.

The couple created a method, known as the Morning Banana Diet, which helped a lot of people to finally solve the issue with extra pounds.

Their solution was simple and easy: you should eat a fresh banana and drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning, and eat nothing until lunch.

Bananas are full of resistant starch which actively stimulates the weight loss process. It does not dissolve in the small intestine and goes directly into the large intestine where the fermentation process begins.

It is converted into short-chain fatty acids by bacteria, and thus feeds cells and improves the healthy function of the gastrointestinal tract.

You should eat as many bananas as you need to feel full, but Japanese avoid overloading the stomach and follow the rule of 80/20. This means that 8 parts of a full stomach go for the individual, and 2 parts go for the doctor, so they only eat 80% of the served meal.

Eat raw bananas only, and after the first one, wait for 20 minutes. If you feel hungry again, eat another one.

The consumption of warm water stimulates metabolism.

Watanabe suggests avoiding milk and alcohol during the diet regimen and recommends that the last meal is no later than 8 pm. Since sleep deprivation leads to weight loss, make sure you go to bed before midnight.

You can eat whatever you want for dinner and lunch, and between the meals, eat some fruit.

The effects of this regimen are due to the beneficial effects of bananas, as follows:
1. Bananas are rich in potassium, and fiber

2. They are full of nutrients which improve overall health in many ways, so are considered superfoods

3. They boost metabolism and keep you full
4. They are cheap way to lose weight

5. Bananas reduce food cravings

6. Bananas help you reduce cellulite

Additionally, this regimen will help you improve health, energize the body, limit alcohol intake, regulate blood sugar, and boost your metabolism. People who have tried it report amazing effects, so why don’t you give it a try?
